Pharmaceutical Packaging Without Interaction

Pharmaceuticals must be packaged for storing, transporting and administering in a way that prevents contamination. The primary packaging is in direct contact with the pharmaceutical product, so it is crucial that the package is safe and does not interact with the substance it contains.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) coating prevents leachable formation and release into the product as well as gas exchange through the packaging material.

Functionalization of surfaces by modifying hydrophilic, hydrophobic or conductive properties is achievable with ALD coating. This is done with minimal extra thickness which makes ALD an attractive solution for applications such as microfuidistics or lab-on-a-chip devices.
